MCC publishes Laws of Cricket app for smartphones [Sports]
Finding it difficult to run through numerous pages to know cricketing rules? Download the ‘MCC Laws of Cricket’ released by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the previous governing council for England and world cricket before ICC (International Cricket Council) assumed responsibility. The app is free for download and is available for both iOS and Android devices. The app contains simple explanations of the 42 Laws that govern the game aided with animations, videos and special quiz.
The app categorizes laws into 8 sections that detail everything from analyzing the pre-match conditions, conducting the game and ensuring the proper closure of the game. The app includes 15 animations that includes voice-over from well known actor, broadcaster Stephen Fry. Fry is assisted by ‘Tommy’, an animated cricketer who learns from the animations. Additionally, the app provides 18 videos that show umpire signals which would allow the fans, players to understand the umpire movements during the course of the match.
The app also features a special quiz section consisting of three levels ‘Basic’, ‘Intermediate’ and ‘Advanced’. Various questions about the laws would be thrown to the user testing his expertise. The scores obtained could be shared among your social networks. The app has been developed by MCC with technological development provided by Mobanode, a digital agency who has previously developed ‘Laws of Rugby’ app for World Rugby.
