Ashwini Ponnappa, an Indian Badminton Player was born on 18th September 1989. Languages known are Hindi, Kannada and English. She completed her schooling in Bangalore and moved to Hyderabad for her Bachelor’s Degree. Her hobbies are watching Television crime series and also playing Table Tennis. Apart from badminton she is professionally interested in interior design. She won the Indian Junior Championship in 2001 and Gold medal at the South Asian Games held in 2006. In the 2010 Commonwealth Games, she won the gold medal in Women’s Doubles event pairing with Jwala Gutta. At London Olympics, pairing Jwala Gutta she lost her opening match in the women’s double competition to the Japanese duo Reika Kakiiwa and Mizuki Fujii in three sets. She won her next doubles match against the Chinese Taipei pair of Cheng and Chien. She won the last group B match against Lei Yao and Shinta Mulia Sari of Singapore, but still failed to enter the quarterfinals of the London Olympics
