Cleansing also removes impurities from your skin, such as sweat, sebum, and dirt.

The best type of cleanser to use will depend on skin type: dry skin should generally stick with creamy or milky formulas, while oily skin types can try gel-based products that mattify the skin’s surface.


After cleansing, you’ll want to add in a moisturizer that suits your skin type.

Dry skin types should use a moisturizer with humectants to draw moisture into the skin, while oily skin will need something lighter like an essence or serum.

There are also treatments for specific skin conditions such as acne and sensitive skin, so make sure you pay attention to what kind of skin you have and pick the skin type that best fits your skin.


The last step to take care of skin is protecting it from further damage by using sunscreen every day! Make sure you’re applying at least SPF 30 before going outside, but if you spend more time in the sun, then make sure to use a higher number like SPF 50.

Sunscreen is especially important in the wintertime since skin can be more sensitive to UV rays, so make sure you’re using sunscreen all year long!

Remove Makeup

At night, it’s also extremely beneficial to remove makeup with oil or micellar water before going to bed. Oils and micellar waters are very gentle on the skin and will help remove any leftover makeup or dirt that your cleanser didn’t get.

Use Lotion

If you’re using an exfoliating product, then you’ll want to follow it with a moisturizer, so the skin doesn’t feel dry after.

If you’re using a wash-off mask, then follow it with your regular moisturizer and skip the lotion afterward!
