Italian Automaker MV-Agusta along with Pune based Kinetic Group has launched super-bikes in India priced between Rs 16.78lakh to Rs 35.71lakh. Bike-maker MV-Agusta, partially owned by BMW will enter the Indian market with F4, Brutale 1090, F3 800 and Brutale 800 bikes.
While F4 and Brutale 1090 will imported as fully-built in units, F3 800 and Brutale800 are SKD (Semi-knocked down) models which will be assembled at Kinetic assembling unit in Ahmednagar. Models F4, F3 800 and Brutale 1090 will go for sale from 2016 whereas Brutale 800 will have to wait till 2017. The entry of these super bikes will see the re-emergence of Kinetic group in Indian bike market after a gap of 8 years.
Targeting a market share of 10% in the super-bike category priced above 15lakhs, Agusta will have to compete with Triumph and Ducati bikes in Indian two-wheeler market. Says MD of Agusta India, the company plans for 300 units to be sold in 2016 and will look forward to sell 600-700 units during the next couple of years. The first Agusta showroom will be opened in Pune followed by Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad.
