Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

The 8th installment of JK Rowling’s popular fantasy series “Harry Potter” is to be released on July 31, 2016. Titled as “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, the book features two parts (Part 1 and Part 2) both set to be released on the same day.

Written by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany; the story was initially intended to be stage play but due to fan’s demand both the parts of the play will be published in book format according to the official statement released on February 10, 2016.

The stage play’s preview shows are scheduled begin on June 7, 2016 at West End’s palace theater, London while the official opening is scheduled on July 30, 2016. The digital and printed formats of the play will be available from July 31 coinciding with the boy wizard’s birthday. The book will be published by Little, Brown in UK, Scholastic in US and Hatchette in Australia while Pottermore, the official website for Harry Potter series will be publishing the e-book version.

The official synopsis of the play was released on 23 October 2015. The story is set 19 years after the events of Deathly Hallows where Harry Potter, now a overworked employee in Ministry of Magic and father to three sons is still unable to come to terms with his past. Meanwhile, his youngest son ‘Albus Severus’ is struggling to cope with his family’s legacy. With trouble from unexpected quarters both the father and son has to confront the harsh realities of their lives.
