Vaalu Movie Review

Reading Time: 1 minute

After several delays Vaalu finally hit the screens on August 14. Directed by debutant Vijay Chander, starring STR (Silambarasan), Hansika Motwani, Santhanam in lead roles, is Vaalu worth the delay?

Story wise Vaalu offers nothing new. It’s the same old story of Sharp (STR) falling in love with Priya (Hansika). Does she reciprocate his feeling, do they unite is all about Vaalu. In between we have Santhanam, VTV Ganesh as his friends providing comic relief. With a predictable storyline, the screenplay provides us with some interesting situations making the movie watchable. The movie never takes itself too seriously making it a light hearted entertainer.

STR carries the movie in his shoulders. His style, mannerism makes his character likeable. Hansika’s character is stereotyped. As an understanding father Aadukalam Naren stands out. Santhanam, VTV Ganesh, Sriranjani fit in well.

  • STR screen presence.
  • Portrayal of STR’s family.
  • Conversations between STR and his father.
  • Fairly engaging screenplay.
  • Climax.

  • Over the top stunts.
  • Wrong placements of songs.
  • Mediocre comedy track.
  • Predictable Story.

Verdict: One time watch.
