Why college friends always hold a special place in our heart?
“I’m really going to miss this place, I’m going to miss my college days.” Who has not sung this song at least once in their life? You would at least lip-synced to it during your college farewell, that is if you are a 90’s kid like me. Wonder why am I talking about college days? So, the other day I read this article about how the movie Ala is going to release on ZEE5 this month. Having seen the trailer of the movie, I was impressed by its depiction of college friendships and romance. The movie seems to be brimming with nostalgia, and that is why I really wanted to write an article about college days. So here we are, counting down some of the reasons why college friends always hold a special place in your heart.
The Choices we made: Aren’t they something? There are some who are lucky enough to still be in touch with their college friends, and I’m lucky enough to say I’m one of them. If you think what’s so great about that, then ask anyone who has moved to a different part of the country (or a different country altogether) for personal reasons. How much do they miss hanging out with their college friends? In a world full of options, we chose these very few lucky people to be our friends, or maybe it was the other way around. But no matter how or who made that decision, we still would not trade them for anyone else.
Special Moments We Create With Them: Like, remember the first time you bunked your college with your friends, your heartbeat was over the roof and you were wondering ‘what if someone spots me and complains to your parents about it?’ And what about that time when you had to put to a proxy attendance for your friend. Those are memories and secrets you’d be taking to your grave.
First Brush With Pressure Of Life While They Support Us: I could have mentioned it in the previous point, but no, it would not do justice to it. See, life is a fairy tale, when you are all young with tucked-in uniforms and textbooks to mug up from. But it is the college days that hit you with a reality check. For some, it brings them down to earth, but some learn how to fly. So, while it is the happiest phase of everyone’s life, sometimes the pressure gets to you. But then, no matter how bad it got, your friends were always around to let you know that it’s going to be okay and how there is nothing you can do to pay them back for that.
The Nostalgia Of Past Days In Our Present Day Hectic Life: I wish I had a time machine so that I could turn back time and relive those good old days. But that’s what memories are for, aren’t they? We live each and every moment, our life through them. Well, if not each and every moment, at least the ones they would always be in our heart. Then comes the nostalgia, like you are watching a scene from a movie and you go back to your college days in your memories. That is exactly what happened when I saw the trailer of Ala.
So, if this article hit you with nostalgia and you have been longing to see your college friends, then go ahead and call them up. If possible make plans to meet them this weekend because you never know how short your life is, my friend.
